Turn off blocking

Blue Guard has two blocking mechanisms and they are switched off separately. Turning one off leaves the other running.

Turn off Safari blocking

Safari owns this switch. You change it in Settings, not in Blue Guard.

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Safari > Extensions.
  2. Turn off Blue Guard.

Safari stops applying the rules straight away, though pages you already have open keep whatever they loaded with until you reload them.

Turn off app-wide blocking

  1. Open Blue Guard.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Under Protection, turn off app-wide blocking.

The packet tunnel stops, and domain lookups go back to whichever resolver your network or device would otherwise use. Blue Guard sees none of them once it is off.

Stop blocking one site instead

When one site is the problem, allow that site and leave everything else running. Allow a website has the steps.

What happens to your settings

Your categories, allowed sites, and custom rules are kept. Turning blocking back on restores them as they were.

Deleting Blue Guard removes all of it, along with the blocked counts, and there is nothing held anywhere else to restore from, because the app has no account and no server behind it. Privacy and data explains what that means in full.
